8 month birthday
21 July 2011: Rosa is 8 months old!
Highlights:
- Crawling and Standing! She is army crawling around with a vengeance and able to pull herself up to standing onto furniture. Gotta keep an eye on this cookie!
- Eating: Rosa has become a very good eater. She is eating all sorts of fruits and vegetables. We even started her on little puffs which she works very diligently to pick up with her thumb and forefinger...not an easy task! She also loves water and has such a satisfied expression on her face after taking a sip.
- Hamming it up: Still quite the social butterfly, Rosa still loves to make people laugh and smile with her silly facial expressions, babbling, and dance moves.
- Laughing: This baby does not want to miss out on the fun. When she hears us laugh she will often join in even if she missed the punch line!
- Techny: This girl knows how to use technology! She has really begun to recognize people on the computer. When we FaceTime with family she likes to talk and laugh along.
Rosa's east coast tour July 2011
For the second half of our east coast vacation we said goodbye to Daddy-O, who had to go back to work, and to Di T and OngBa Co as we hopped in the car to head south.
Our first stop was to Hillsborough, NJ! It was a stormy evening and we were greeted at the car by a parade of umbrellas to shield us from the rain. We had a tasty dinner and then played games. Rosie also got her first taste of mango!

The next morning we headed to Ba L and Ong T's house. Here she is with her great great uncle!
Afterward we headed down to Delaware where we were once again greeting with an umbrella procession. Here's Rosie with Ong D, her great uncle.
Ba Ngoai, Zia D, Aunties Nami with our tasty pot pie dinner.
The storm caused a blackout, but the DE crew was prepared and we had a romantic evening!
Rosie and Ba Ngoai relaxing outside.
Uncle M's father's day gift to Ong Ngoai: go UConn!
Exploring nature with Ba T-A
After a long day it's nice to have warm arms to fall asleep in.
And of course there was much singing! Oh I love my Rosie child, she got the way to make me happy!
Lot so hammock time with the aunties!
We then headed down to DC with Uncle M and Auntie A to their beautiful new home in Takoma park. In addition to seeing Mom's best friend Auntie C, we got in some much needed rest:

Then it was off to the airport where we had to say bye to Ong Ba Ngoai. Thanks for an amazing trip! Until next time!

Lê Family Reunion
Over 4th of July weekend we had our big Lê Family Reunion in Connecticut. It was undoubtedly the biggest event happening in New England that weekend. It's hard to beat a joint 90 and 89th birthday party, not to mention a soon-to-be 70th wedding anniversary! There are so many amazing moments from the weekend, but the underlying joy was how truly happy Ong Ba Co were to have everyone together celebrating.
Those in attendance (from Rosie's perspective): 2 great grandparents, 16 great uncles and aunts, 27 uncles and aunts, 5 cousins. It was quite impressive that everyone could be there, with the exception of an uncle-in-law to be who lives halfway across the world!

Friday night: Family gathered at Chua (the temple) to start setting up for the celebration on Saturday. This included a lot of karaoke.

Saturday: Big celebration at Chua. In addition to the 50 family members were 50 guests there to honor Ong Ba Co.

Sunday afternoon: BBQ at Di A-T's house! Unfortunately it rained that day but we luckily could take refuge in the house. Highlight of the bbq: Lê Family Jeopardy! It was a heated battle (a lot of hissing going on). Lot of laughs and ah-ha moments as we revealed interesting facts about each other.

Sunday evening: Dinner at Ong H's house. Our time was spent: 50% eating, 45% taking photos, 5% misc. While it's not unusual to indulge in tasty food when we're together, I think this was the first time where I lifted my empty pho bowl to get up and one magically swooped down from the sky to replace it. Here is Rosie with her great great aunt!

Monday: Unwinding. We weren't able to go to the brunch at Ba H's house but afterward some family came over to the house to hang out. Our super good friends M and D also drove up from Philly to join us.

Just a glimpse into such an amazing weekend!

En route home
2.5 weeks, 60.5 + family members, 3 beaches, 5 states, 150% humidity... And now we are on our way back home! Rosa has already fallen asleep, tuckered out from so much fun and love.

Next task at hand: documenting the trip! I'll get to it after we land and get some hearty rest. Will miss everyone but we're also excited to see daddy-o!!
