New fish friend

We finally dusted off the fish tank Rosie got from Tio and Tia (after having an unsuccessful run at it last year) and adopted a new fish friend for Rosie! Introducing....Pepper! At the aquarium Rosie had dozens of beta fish to choose from. She was not swayed by our suggestions but picked out Pepper from the corner spot. She took her job very seriously in the car and was careful not to drop him. She even sang him a song. Photo courtesy of Na, here is Rosie singing "Royals":

She has been very sweet to Pepper, checking in on him and even blowing kisses through the little door. When I asked her what song Pepper would like, are quickly came up with "Hard Knock Life," which is fitting since Pepper is named after an orphan from Annie:

Family time in SF

Spent the day in the city with Tio, Tia, A and A, their exchange students M and Y, and NaMi. It was a gorgeous day, sunny and warm. We ended the lovely day with a homemade bowl of pho!

Picture day

We got Rosie's first set of school pictures. So cute! After picking her up we treated ourselves to the Dairy and played in the grass. Rosie has been enjoying school... left covered in sand, danced around using circle time, gave big hugs to her teachers.

Fluke or progress?

An hour ago Rosie quietly walked out of her room, half asleep. We held her and gave her googly eyes, then she informed me she had to use the potty. Cool! After business was done, she got upset when I put her diaper back on. "I don't need that anymore." I told her how proud I was of her but to keep it on just in case.

The amazing thing is that it was just this morning that we first talked to her about using the potty during night time. Impressed she remembered!

Cousin island birthday

First birthday party in Alameda for cousin MD! Lots of family, food, and games. Rosie loves her baby cousins MD and ND (who wouldn't).

Helping DaddyO get ready for the party (we'll have you washed and dried, primed and polished til you grow with pride!):

Catching up with BFF

Back in San Jose with Rosie's best flower friend. So nice to spend time with them, LD, and NaMi. While we'd much rather see them more regularly, it's cool to see them interact in a new way after a month+ apart. So grown up, these ladies.

Holes and parks

Picked rosie up as she was finishing art. She was loving the hole puncher! The classroom is so well organized that she knows exactly where things go. Could borrow ideas from school to help at home!

After dinner we went for a nice walk to get boba and yogurt. Stopped by the park downtown and played for a good while. Rosie's becoming more daring.

Funky slide picture:

Rolling Stones according to Rosie

Rosie has just started really sharing details of preschool. Mostly it was reciting names of her classmates. Yesterday she shared a song that I could totally follow along!
But before she gets to that she gets into a debate with Auntie Na about the lyrics of a well- known Rollings Stones song. It's an interesting insight into her world.

YouTube Video

At the end you see the beginning of her reengaging Na in the debate.

Under the weather

Rosie was feeling under the weather since Monday morning. After getting sick on the way to school, Rosie spend the last two days with auntie Na, with Auntie G "on call." So grateful to have help from family!

...so does baking (just one small one to test!):

By Monday night she was feelin better, singing and playing drums, and soon yoga:

Tuesday morning, still a low fever but feeling well enough for a picnic at the park:

Then a marathon 3 hour nap!

We ended the evening with dinner with Vavô and Vavó (glad they're back from vacation!), Auntie and Al, Ang. Rosie put on quite a (naked attack) show. Back to her normal self. Off to school tomorrow!

Rosa Family Love collage

First school assignment: collage! To be used on those tough days when she might need extra love.

Cool down

Today was a scorcher so we asked Auntie if we could take a dip in their pool. A dip developed quickly into spending the wonderful evening with Auntie, Uncle G, cousins A and A (just back from Australia!), and Teta. The water was perfect, the air warm, dinner delicious, and company beyond stellar.
