First bath

Beach napping

...well, sort of. Nap time in the backyard with sounds of the ocean in the background (app).

Sibling love

Rosie has been looking forward to being a big sister for a long time now. When she first found out we were having a baby, she jumped into my arms, gave a big hug, and "cried because I'm so happy."

Rosie has been eager to help, available to hold at any moment (at times too available), and stays very calm if Jay's crying in her arms. She has learned to hum "You are My Sunshine" since he likes the vibration. Jay loves to hear his sister's voice.

First time together:

Car ride home from the hospital. Rosie has been asking to go anywhere in the car so she can sit next to Jay:

Snuggles:

Rosie helping with skin-to-skin time. Joseph clearly loving it:

More snuggles, this time in the cottage:

Joint nap. And yes, they both really are asleep! A miracle:

Joseph Anthony

Welcome, Joseph Anthony Lê De Sousa!

Joseph Anthony entered this world at 4:53AM on Saturday, July 25, measuring 7lbs 2 oz and 21.5 inches. He joined us wrinkly, purple, and absolutely perfect.

We eagerly awaited Joseph's arrival over these past 10 months. This little one has been well loved from the start, especially by Rosie. I can't count how many times Rosie sat at the ready (would literally pull up a chair and wait) to help Mom during pregnancy...from glasses of water to massages to serenading the belly. This little one has also experienced the heartbreak of sorrow with the passing of his Vavô, Jose Antonio. Through it all, we are reminded that our son enters the world surrounded by a strong circle of love and that Joseph Anthony rests on the shoulders of those who came before him.
