Redwood Park and Emma Prusch

Saturday, met up with friends DH and KL for a hike at Redwood Park in Oakland. Love this place. Ladybugs were in full bloom! (Fascinating and a little eerie):

Love this place:

Hit up Emma Prush Park this morning. This tractor turned into a tractor pirate ship with a captain and first mate.

Quack quack:

Roosters, chickens, ducks, and geese were the big hit. Rosie picked the mallards as "her" bird.

Peacock in close range! It flew right over us, much to our surprise:

Left the park and it some Bambū che. Calls for a nap (look at the hands!):

Cousin birthday and farewell

Tuesday was cousin J's 2nd birthday and our last day with the OLês.

Who knew birthday balloons would provide endless entertainment!

Birthday boy with his "birthday finger"

We miss you all!

Roy's Redwoods

Last Monday we had an amazing day exploring the redwoods at Roy's Redwoods up in Marin.

Then we ventures to Limantaur Beach where we played in the waves, the sand, and saw a grey whale!

A full and beautiful day left is wiped out!

Family brunch

OLês!

We've been waiting for this moment for so long! It's been so nice to catch up with uncle M and auntie A, and watch Rosie and cousin J play so well together. There are so muh laughter, sharing, and silliness.

2014

The new year has brought with it valiant super heroes, inventive storytellers, gourmet chefs, abstract architects, and brave adventurers. We've spent the last weeks with family both in hugging-range and kiss-blowing-through-facetime range, friends, hiking, dipping our feet in creeks (Rosie and DaddyO, my ankles can't take the cold) and transitioning back to our respective schools. Rosie's favorite books include Rosie Revere, Engineer, the I'm Not Isabella books, and now engrossed in, that's fancy for "can't get enough of," Fancy Nancy. We've been loving having Rosie's auntie Na with us. Orange will forever be known as "Na's favorite color." With an upcoming trip from cousin J, uncle M, and auntie A, we were humoring ourselves with the idea of cousin J and Rosie someday going out for a beer together. It's hard to think of her grown up when the last I heard from her tonight was, "I want you to stay with me forever and ever and ever" as she rubbed my "chocolate chip" (birthmark on my neck that she subconsciously rubs when in reach). As life speeds up, this blog seems to slow, but I don't suspect we'll abandon it anytime soon since it still brings us so much joy to look back on these amazing moments. Happy 2014.
