School days
Today was Rosie's first full day of preschool. I've been consumed with setting up my classroom and all day kept thinking about her and how she was coping on a long day at school. DaddyO picked Rosie up and was greeted with shrieks and big bear hugs. She apparently got in an awesome nap and made some good friends. She did have her first accident, but that's what an extra change of clothes are for.
It was fun coming home and hearing about life as a preschooler. Once she was done telling me about making tanbark pies with friends, she asked me to tell her about my day. So sweet.
Here are a couple shots from last week when Rosie, DaddyO, and MLB came to help me at school:

Connections
We've been very impressed by the connections Rosie has been making over these last months. Want to start documenting some before we forget. Yesterday, while hanging out with auntie MLB, Rosie apparently made a connection between Beauty and the Beast and Mulan. When auntie MLB got to the part in Beauty and the Beast where Belle decides to stay with the Beast in order to save her father, Rosie apparently said, "Like Mulan. Mulan saves her dad." !!

Mangia
Dinner with Auntie and the girls before J heads back to school. Auntie's sixth Rosie sense was in full effect once again. Rosie had been talking about getting a Hello Kitty bag for school and that's exactly what Auntie, without knowing that, got her to celebrate the start of preschool!

Major milestone!
I've forgotten to share a very big and important milestone: Rosie is potty-trained! For the start of school we made a push to get her out of diapers (daytime), and she has been rocking it. According to Rosie, her teachers said she did it perfectly (her words!). It has helped to watch episodes of Daniel Tiger. This is very exciting for countless reasons. We're still diapering at night (no rush on that one).
She's doing so well, she's moved onto teaching others:

First day of school
Today was Rosie's first (half) day of school! There was a lot of anticipation over the last few months leading up to this day. Rosie's been talking about her friends (whom she had yet to meet) and would ask about her teachers' names. Over the weekend we went school shopping and got her some new outfits and sneakers. The last few weeks, The Kissing Hand has been a favorite read aloud. Finally the day arrived.
When I picked her up from school she was excited to see me and clearly had a great time. She brought home her first craft: button stick! She proudly showed me her work and said it was for me and Daddy.

Doctor visit
Ramping up for preschool, we had to pay a visit to the doctor for a check-up. Rosie was eager to go and curious about shots, thanks to an episode of Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. She was so good! She listened to directions very well, chatted with the doctor, got tickled in her ears, and got to sport a fancy gown. She did have one shot and was a rockstar. She cried for about 5 seconds until stickertime.
Rosie is 25lbs, (can't remember height), and the doctor projected she'd be about 5'5"! Overall healthy. Woo!

Delaware relocation!
Late Thursday evening Rosie's aunties Na and Mi arrived after a week-long drive across the country. We are very excited to welcome them to California! Rosie stayed up late that night waiting for them and when she saw their car, yelled for them and almost flew down the front steps. Psyched to have them close by now!

Happy 35th DaddyO
An eventful week of birthday celebration with DaddyO! We began the week with a party at the house with friends and family. We were literally putting the finishing touches on the house post remodeling moments before guests arrived. And it was all worth it. It was a cool afternoon with delicious food (thanks to family!); catching up with loved ones old and new, young and...not as young; and cornhole!
On the day of DaddyO's actual birthday (Thursday), Rosie and I picked him up at UCSanta Cruz after a three-day freshman retreat. It was so nice to see him after day away from home. We grabbed lunch on the pier, walked the boardwalk while Rosie napped, and then played on the beach. Sadly, our phones both ran out of battery so we weren't able to capture the beautiful day. In particular, it was hilarious to see Rosie on a mission while on the beach. She decided the seaweed was "Terrible. Horrible!" and insisted on cleaning up the beach by dragging the seaweed back into the water. She would have made it all along the coast if we didn't eventually turn her back. We also saw jellyfish! That was a first on the west coast. After rinsing and drying off, we grabbed dinner in Little Saigon and then headed home, where DaddyO was finally able to catch some shut eye.
Happy Birthday DaddyO! We love you!
