Woodland Zoo Seattle

Yesterday afternoon we settled into our home for the next 6 days, Seattle!
Airport fun:

Riding the Link Light Rail:

The view from our hotel room. Seeing te Space Needle inspired Rosie to double brush:

This morning we hit up the Woodland Zoo. There was quite the crowd with an egg hunt drawing families out. Rosie was all business:

Peacock!

Admiring the snake:

Drumming:

Feeding a cockatoo at the aviary. Reminded mom of her old pet, Luc Xac:

Rosie and her new giraffe baby with this crazy frog:

Then we had a tasty pizza lunch at Zeek's and are now heading back the hotel for a rest. Rosie's already asleep on the bus!

egg hunt

Went to a new friend's house for an egg hunt playdate. Rosie felt immediately comfortable:
 Playing games and drumming:
Let the egg hunt begin! Rosie and J wasted no time!:

This was Rosie's second basket-full of eggs!:
Resting after the hunt. These kids are too freaking cute:
J asking me to smell the flower sticker:
The little one of the group taking center stage:
E rocking her first egg hunt:
Mama A and A gave Rosie a new pair of sunglasses, which Rosie really loves. She was sure to remind me which ones were her old sunglasses and new sunglasses:

It has been great meeting new families and kids in the area. A little about the families (sorry if initials get confusing):
Little boy J is a few months older than Rosie and has a 3-month old sister O. His dad P hosted us today. They are also east coast transplants like us (NYC).
Little girl A and mama A first met Rosie in the park with DaddyO. A has a 9-year old brother R who apparently really took to Rosie. They are also Gymboree goers.
Little girl E and mama T are our neighborhood buddies. We first met them walking around downtown before we even bought the house. They love going for walks too so we kept running into them. They're expecting a second baby in May.

Happy Birthday Ong!!

Happy 65th Birthday Ong Ngoai!

Wish we could be in Connecticut with you. We love you!

more zoo

Rosie cam:

little brain, big ideas

1) In the middle of her bedtime routine Rosie asked for a sandwich so we took to the kitchen to make a PB&J sandwich. Rosie was being very sweet and chatty. Then she said, "Why....[indiscerable]...spiders?" After at least half a dozen questions from me in attempt to understand her, she said what sounded like "Why are people scared of spiders?" When I repeated it, she said, "Yeah! Why?"
Mind. blown.

Conversation then led to her telling me she was scared of spiders, to which I told her that a lot of people are afraid of spiders but if you were a tiny spider, wouldn't you be afraid of a big Rosie? She giggled...possibly to humor her mommy.

2) Rosie was admiring the picture of juicy raspberries on the jar of jelly and asked me,"Why is there a hole?" (Not sure she used all those words but you get the gist). First, I told her they were so we could put our fingers in them (cue giggle). Then I realized I should probably tell it to her straight so I explained that the stem used to be in the hole and that's what connected it to the plant (threw in a hand gesture to model it). She then said that it was like her necklace. "What?" I asked. Then she gestured to her neck and said it's like her necklace, referring to the bead necklace she has that connects by putting pushing the end into a little tube.

Mind. BLOWN 2.

Someone recently told me that Sagittariuses (apparently Rosie is one) are on an eternal search for truth, and I should be prepared to get a lot of questions from this inquisitive one. Til now, Rosie's questions were expected and repetitive (What's that? Who's that? Who's is that?). Tonight she definitely stepped it up a notch.

So excited for more talks to come!
(and if we're lucky it'll be like Die Hard with no end in sight of sequels).

Making something...

...is one way to say...I love you.
That's a song Rosie learned from the Daniel Tiger show (a Mr. Rogers spin off cartoon). Rosie has started saying it to us after she gives us something. Then cue instant "awwww"ing and melting. Managed to catch it on tape while Rosie was making up stories abouts getting a glow-in-the-dark star from Ba.

silver lining phobook*

Been battling through this sickness...and I do mean "we", not in the funny parent way like "we just used the potty!" but in the "sick baby sleeping = we not sleeping [sic]" way. (I should probably edit that sentence since it likely doesn't make sense but I'll just blame the sickness).

Rosie's still got a slight barking cough, usually in the evenings, and has been very mellow. During the days she's pretty cuddly and still a little funny nut, but at night she's been having a pretty rough time sleeping. She woke up multiple times crying and needing to be consoled. After a call with a nurse this morning, we decided she just needs to see this one through. So we've been prescribed popsicles, honey, and steam baths. We can handle that! Rosie's appetite has been touch and go, but one sure thing has been...unsurprisingly...pho! Something we are more than happy to indulge in.

Date night with DaddyO last night. Rosie is a pro!:
It's sometimes nice to slow down and just cuddle. Though the iPad may be getting more use than usual...We choose our battles.

*We haven't seen "silver lining playbook" so hope the reference isn't weird or inappropriate.  But it features katniss everdeen so how bad could it be?!

happy birthday di T!

Love you!
