Spin jump, purple rain

Rosie woke up from her nap transformed. The crazy hair was fitting for her ArtistFormerlyKnownAsPrince-purple-rain outfit.

Rosie was groovin with her new spinning and jumping moves. Her feet may have even left the ground at one point!

Spring is here

It's hard to tell from roller coaster temperature changes but I do believe spring is here! Our nectarine tree has blossomed beautifully.

Sniffsniff:

And with the blossoms has come a new tooth! After months and months of the same 4 chompers, a bottom tooth has cut through, which would explain the painful cries at night. No picture of it...yet.

In other potentially-TMI news, we made a milestone purchase today:

Potty time! We might start getting her used to her new throne since she still does the bright-red-holding-breath-double-chin grunt and has possibly started to verbalize when she needs to go. So...there will likely not be many more posts about this (unless you're lucky) so I figure one embarrassing one fully clothed picture would be okay :)

15 month birthday

Yesterday was Rosa's 15 month anniversary of birth! What better way to celebrate than with Cousin J who just turned 1 month.

  • Walking: Most notable from this month is that Rosa has taken (literally) strides with her walking. She now saunters around effortlessly and reserves crawling for when she is trying to impress Cousin Matisse, the cat. This has opened all sorts of doors both figuratively and literally.
  • Forming opinions: With the new found freedom of walking has come an assertion of opinion. Rosie now usually has something to say about where to go, what to eat, and which book fits her mood. It is nice to see her empowered though we are also bracing ourselves for stubborn moments to come.
  • Waving and blowing kisses continued: She has now expanded to greeting animals both living (dogs in particular and Matisse the cat) and non-living (the Smithsonian Mammal Exhibit). It is something truly special to hear strangers tell us that the kiss they got from Rosie made their day.
  • Vocalization: Rosie likes to say "mom" and seems to use when having anything to do with our family. She makes sounds to go with objects, namely b-b-b- for ball or bubu, and may have even said "poopoo" while pointing to her diaper pre-BM. Her "wow!" has even gotten deeper and more expressive.
  • Story time: Rosie has loved books for a while, but she will now pull books from the shelf, bring it to you, and place herself comfortably in your lap ready for the story. Before bedtime we can easily go through 10 books before we tire out.
  • Eating: Rosie loves fruit. Her love for cheese and bread/rice has lessened a bit, and vegetables can be a challenge. With her quick-forming opinions, she might thINK she doesn't like it but after some convincing she can change her mind.

Museum of Natural Curiosity

The Museum of Natural History wowed Rosie's socks off! She explored the Mammal Exhibit blowing kisses to everything from the capybaras to the flying squirrels to the wildebeests. It was so special to see her sense of wonder in full effect.

Washington DC: family reunion!

Reunited and it feels so good!
Here we are in Washington D.C. where we have been catching up with family on Mom's side. We got to meet Baby Cousin J for the first time. It is hard to believe he could be cuter than his pictures! We were so lucky to be able to see a lot of family yesterday, thanks to Uncle M and Auntie A for hosting 29 people at the house (including Matisse the cat). It's been a packed two days so far! Thanks so Uncle M's awesome camera, we captured a bunch of sweet moments. Here are some highlights (with possibly more to come...still sorting through the near-thousand files!)
Even Rosie couldn't resist Cousin J's baby softness

Happy 90th (or 89th, depending on who's counting) Birthday Ba Co (Great Grandmother)!
